The 113th Astoria Regatta Coronation was held Wednesday evening, August 8th at the Clatsop Community College Performing Arts Center.
The 2007 Astoria Regatta Royalty were introduced by MC Bruce Conner, they are Hannah Alley of Astoria High School, Jessica Hoffman of Warrenton High School, Shasia Holthusen of Warrenton High School and Sam Johnson of Astoria High School.
Each of the Ambassadors presented a speech on the theme: "The Spirit of the Columbia" that touched on the history and industry of the Lower Columbia River such as the Coast Guard, Canneries, the Astoria Column and the Columbia River jetties.
Participating in the on stage ceremonies were 2007 Regatta Admiral Ward Cook of Portland/Vancouver and Admiral's Aide Stubby Lyons of Seaside.
The entertainment was presented by Kim Angelis on the gypsy violin and Josef Gault on the guitar whopresented two original face paced selections.
The Ambassadors had been judged earlier in the day with individual interviews by a panel of judges. Cmdr. John Rinko of the USS Vandegrift, Cmdr. Matthew Creelman of the USCG Cutter Alert, David Lum, and Past Regatta Queens Lydia Seabold of 1952 and Carole Karnofski of 1997.
The 2006 reigning Queen Stacy Law a graduate of Astoria High School passed her crown onto the 2007 Royal Ambassador Hannah Alley at the conclusion of the music filled program. Hannah will reign for the year as she completes her senior year at Astoria High School. Hannah is the daughter of Mike and Linnea Alley. She plays violin in the high scholl orchestra and partipates in Spanish Club, swim team and soccer. Hannah is the senior class secretary. Hannah will travel with the 2008 Regatta Ambassadors in the coming festival year and participate in the many festivals and parades in Oregon and Washington.
