The Astoria Regatta Association is pleased to invite you to attend the 117th Astoria Regatta, August 10th – 14th, 2011 celebrating Astoria’s (the oldest US Settlement West of the Rocky Mountains) Bicentennial. This year’s theme is appropriately titled “Happy 200th Birthday Astoria”.

This is a very special year for Astoria, and the Regatta Association is honored to host one of the signature weeks chosen by the City and Bicentennial Committee to help celebrate this major US Milestone.

Lord John Jacob Astor VIII, descendant of Astoria Founder John Jacob Astor of Walldorf, Germany, a fur trader who settled Astoria back in 1811, and his son Charles, will visit Astoria during Regatta week and is being honored as one of this year’s Regatta Admirals. Lord/Admiral Astor’s aide is local dentist, Dr. Jeff Leinassar. Also visiting Astoria during Regatta week is the Burgermeister (mayor) of Walldorf, Germany, Mrs. Staab, as well as several members of the Walldorf City Council and City staff. Burgermeister Staab will also be one of this year’s Regatta admirals. Burgermeister/Admiral Staab‘s Aide is Kevin LaCoste, US Bancorp’s Regional Vice President. The 2011 local Regatta Admiral is native Astorian and businessman, Martin Nygaard. Admiral Nygaard’s Aide is son, David Nygaard.

Below is a list of activities scheduled for the 117th Astoria Regatta. One of this year’s highlights is a concert performance by Grammy Winning Country Star Reba McEntire. The concert will be held on the last day of the Regatta, Sunday, August 14th at Camp Rilea in Warrenton off of Hwy 101. Opening for Reba will be Phil Vasser and the Oregon Army Band. The concert begins at 1:00 pm with doors opening at 10:00am. Tickets are available at the Liberty Theatre in Astoria and through Tickets West. General Admission tickets are $50.00, reserved tickets are $150.00, VIP Reserved tickets are $200.00. GA tickets will also be available at Camp Rilea the day of the concert.
